We provid specialized cleaning and maintenance services for all common types of aquariums, including turtle tanks! Our small team of aquarists cares for turtles throught the toronto are and is well-equipped to ensure your turtle’s home is clean, healthy, and odor-free.
Proper maintenance of an aquatic turtle tank is important for the health of your pets and the cleanliness of your environment. Turtles are fascinating creatures, but they are also heavy waste producers. Without regular care, their tanks can quickly become cloudy, develop nasty odors, and harbor harmful bacteria. Maintaining a turtle habitat can be a messy, time-consuming, and is a demanding chore that requires specialized filtration knowledge and consistent attention to detail.
This is where our team of aquarium techs comes in. We have years of experience in managing turtle environments, from Red-Eared Sliders and Musk turtles to the more exotic Fly River Turtles. Our goal is to provide you with a stress-free experience, allowing you to enjoy the prehistoric beauty and quirky personalities of your turtles without the heavy lifting and dirty water associated with their care.
Our team will ensure that your turtle's water chemistry is balanced, the high-capacity filtration system is running well, and the basking area temperatures are correct. We perform deep cleanings of the habitat, manage waste levels through regular water changes, and ensure your lighting (UVB and Heat) is functioning perfectly to prevent shell rot and metabolic bone disease.
In addition to regular cleaning, our aquarists can advise you on specialized dietary needs and habitat enrichment to keep your turtles active and engaged.
By entrusting your turtle tank to our professional team, you can rest assured that your pets are living in a sanitary, healthy environment. You can enjoy your habitat as a beautiful focal point in your home or office, knowing it is managed by GTA professionals dedicated to the highest level of aquatic care.
The Red-Eared Slider is the most common and recognizable aquatic turtle kept in aquariums, known for the bold red stripe behind each eye. These are somewhat energetic, active swimmers that require an environment with a significant amount of swimming room and a dedicated dry basking area. Because they grow up to 12 inches and have high metabolisms, they produce a substantial amount of waste. Without the robust filtration and frequent, high-volume water changes our team provides, their habitats can quickly become unhealthy for both the turtle and the home environment.
Our favotite, the Razorback Musk Turtle is an excellent choice for home and office aquariums because they stay relatively small, typically reaching only 5 to 6 inches. Unlike many other species, they are almost entirely aquatic, spending the vast majority of their time walking along the bottom of the tank and swimming around rather than basking above the water. They can be shy and should have a habitat with underwater "furniture" and hiding spots. Our team ensures their water remains clear and healthy, as these turtles rely on high water quality for their unique lifestyle.
Painted Turtles are celebrated for their appearance, featuring intricate red and yellow "painted" patterns on their shells and skin. While slightly smaller and often more docile than sliders, they are highly social and make excellent pets and additions to community habitats. They are particularly reliant on clean, dry basking platforms and propper UV lighting to maintain their vibrant shell health and prevent issues. We focus on meticulously sanitizing their basking areas and monitoring water quality to keep their colors vivid and their shells hard.
The undisputed king of fresh water turtles! The Fly River Turtle is also known as the Pig Nose Turtle and is a truly spectacular, fully aquatic species that looks more like a sea turtle than a typical pond turtle, featuring unique flippers and a distinct "pig-nose." Because they can grow to more than 20 inches, they require an exceptionally large, high-volume tank— in the ballpark of 250 to 400 gallons or more—to accommodate their active swimming. They are highly sensitive to water chemistry and skin abrasions, making exppert maintenance a necessity rather than a luxury for their health.
These are just a few examples of the types of turtles that can be housed in aquariums. It's important to research the specific needs and behaviors of each species before adding them to an aquarium, and to ensure that they are compatible with other species in the tank.
