The Labidochromis Caeruleus is commonly known as the Yellow Lab or Electric Yellow. It's striking yellow and black appearance makes it a popular cichlid amoung beginner and advanced aquarists alike. The yellow lab is endemic to Lake Malawi in Africa. It is a moderately aggressive cichlid and prefers hard water with a PH between 7.8 and 8.2. The Metriaclima Estherae or Red Zebra cichlid as it is commonly known is a beautiful mbuna cichlid that is native to Lake Malawi. Females of this species take on bright orange colouration, males have a blue colouration in the wild however, cichlid breeders have developed a red zebra strain that produces orange males for the aquarium hobby. Red Zebras prefer water with a PH of 7.8 - 8.6 and a temperature between 78F and 82F. The Sunshine Peacock or Aulonocara Stuartgranti is another beautiful cichlid from Lake Malawi. It's bright yellow colour makes it popular amoung those who keep Peacock and Haplochromis cichlids. The Blue Dolphin or Crytocara Moorii is another beautiful cichlid that is endemic to Lake Malawi in Africa. Males take on a beautiful blue colouration when they are juveniles while females remain grey. Males also develop a nuchal hump on their forehead as they mature. The Pseudotropheus Demasoni is one of our favourite fish due to its beautiful colour and lively personality. The Demasoni is a cichlid species that is endemic to Lake Malawi in Africa. Demasoni can be very aggressive and are thus best kept in large groups (10 or more) and in larger aquariums (75 gallons or more). A female to male ratio of at least 4:1 is recommended as the males tend to be more aggressive. Demasoni prefer hard, alkaline water with a PH of 7.8 to 8.6 as is found in Lake Malawi.
